The USF Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is proud to host an art exhibit this semester, Quilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren Austin, which will open on Monday, February 12. . . . . Lauren Austin is a Florida-based storytelling artist who has worked for over 30 years in the medium of quilts. Austin’s work merges her own life story with that of Black history and cultural memory. Her quilts are large-scale mixed media pieces, incorporating photographic processes, stone lithograph, beading, hand-stitching, and hand-dyed fabrics.. . . . There is an open house reception on 2/12 from 2:00-3:30pm in CMC 202.
