- May 222:00 PMQuilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren AustinThe USF Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is proud to host an art exhibit this semester, Quilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren Austin, which will open on Monday, February 12. . . . . Lauren Austin is a Florida-based storytelling artist who has worked for over 30 years in the medium of quilts. Austin’s work merges her own life story with that of Black history and cultural memory. Her quilts are large-scale mixed media pieces, incorporating photographic processes, stone lithograph, beading, hand-stitching, and hand-dyed fabrics.. . . . There is an open house reception on 2/12 from 2:00-3:30pm in CMC 202. Additionally, there will be two free companion events – a fabric artbook workshop on February 21 and a public lecture on February 22. - May 222:00 PMMort Park Food Pantry VolunteeringThese volunteer opportunities include assisting Mary Mac with setting up The Well's mobile Kinship Free Markets, assisting with food distribution, and packing/cleaning up once the market ends.. . Join WellBuilt City and us in distributing food to those who need it at Mort Park every Wednesday starting at 1 PM!. .
