Come join us for our biweekly meditation and discussion in the Lotus Hall of the Florida Community Of Mindfulness Practice Center (~20-25 minutes from USF Tampa Campus). . . . . We will guide you through a 20-30 minute sitting meditation, followed by 10 minutes of walking meditation. Then we will read from a Dharma book together, discuss the teachings and share how we apply them to our life.. . . . Afterwards we will have tea and snacks downstairs in the Sangha Hall.. . Arrive late or leave early as needed. There is no charge for this event.. . There will be a greeter outside from 6:45-7:00 to direct you to the proper building.. . . . *COVID-19 Update: FCM welcomes all individuals to attend our events in person, regardless of vaccination status. Masks are not required, although people may choose to mask at any time. We ask members and non-members to please stay home if they are currently experiencing any signs of any transmissible illness, including COVID-19.. . . . *All Wake Up Tampa Bay events are alcohol, drug, and animal product free. Everyone aged 18 to 35 is welcome, but we ask that all who come do so with a clear mind and an open heart. For all of those who love everything gardening, the River Hills community garden is trying to restore itself in time for the planting season. Our club, USF Rotaract, also owns a couple of plots in this garden due to the fact that we repaired the garden a year ago, so if you want to try out your green thumb come join. All food grown here by us goes to our food pantry partners. . . . Meet at 8am at 803 W River Dr, Tampa, FL 33617, dress for the weather and wear closed toed shoes. . . . - Jun 12:00 PMQuilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren AustinThe USF Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is proud to host an art exhibit this semester, Quilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren Austin, which will open on Monday, February 12. . . . . Lauren Austin is a Florida-based storytelling artist who has worked for over 30 years in the medium of quilts. Austin’s work merges her own life story with that of Black history and cultural memory. Her quilts are large-scale mixed media pieces, incorporating photographic processes, stone lithograph, beading, hand-stitching, and hand-dyed fabrics.. . . . There is an open house reception on 2/12 from 2:00-3:30pm in CMC 202. Additionally, there will be two free companion events – a fabric artbook workshop on February 21 and a public lecture on February 22.
