Lauren Austin is a Florida-based storytelling artist who has worked for over 30 years in the medium of quilts. Austin’s work merges her own life story with that of Black history and cultural memory. Her quilts are large-scale mixed media pieces, incorporating photographic processes, stone lithograph, beading, hand-stitching, and hand-dyed fabrics.. . . . There is an open house reception on 2/12 from 2:00-3:30pm in CMC 202. Additionally, there will be two free companion events – a fabric artbook workshop on February 21 and a public lecture on February 22. Join WellBuilt City and us in distributing food to those who need it at Mort Park every Wednesday starting at 1 PM!. .
