VISTA Gardens is a 3.31 acre Hillsborough Country Garden Park that looks to preserve the native foliage and butterfly population.. . . . At this garden, volunteers would be helping out with tasks that needs to be done (planting, some weeding, composting, etc). Please be sure to bring some sunscreen and sun protection (caps/hats) in addition to water and snacks. . . . Gardening gloves, tools, equipment, and guidance will be provided.. . . . - 2:00 PM1h 30mQuilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren AustinThe USF Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is proud to host an art exhibit this semester, Quilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren Austin, which will open on Monday, February 12. . . . . Lauren Austin is a Florida-based storytelling artist who has worked for over 30 years in the medium of quilts. Austin’s work merges her own life story with that of Black history and cultural memory. Her quilts are large-scale mixed media pieces, incorporating photographic processes, stone lithograph, beading, hand-stitching, and hand-dyed fabrics.. . . . There is an open house reception on 2/12 from 2:00-3:30pm in CMC 202. Additionally, there will be two free companion events – a fabric artbook workshop on February 21 and a public lecture on February 22.
