Hurricane Milton Point of Distribution for Food & Water

Wednesday, October 23, 2024 5:00–8:00 PM
  • Location
Bailey Elementary School, 4630 Gallagher Road, Dover, FL 33527 , United States
  • Description
We are working with the Hillsborough County Office of Emergency Management as they help get resources to those in need. We are seeking volunteers for the Point of Distribution (POD), located at the Bailey Elementary School in Dover. You will play a crucial role in aiding those affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. At the site, you will help to ensure that residents have access to all available resources following the storm. This site also needs bilingual Spanish speakers. This may include sorting and organizing supplies to then hand out to residents that drive up to include ready-made meals, water, and other supplies while fostering a welcoming environment. Throughout your shift, you’ll engage with community members, listen to their stories, and offer encouragement, helping to build a sense of connection among those facing challenges. At the end of the day, you’ll assist with clean-up to ensure the space is ready for continued support. Your compassion and dedication will make a significant difference in the lives of those seeking comfort during this difficult time. Thank you for being part of this vital effort!. . . . If you can wear close-toed shoes, a shirt representing the organization you are affiliated with if you have one (i.e., USF, Student Organization), or just a plain color T-shirt, that would be great. You'll be outside, so it is important that you wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. You can also wear a hat, shorts, and/or comfortable pants, which would be ideal. We need all the help to ensure this community has items they may need.
