- Sep 185:00 PMCommunity Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training Course (Day1 )The CERT program is critical to engage everyone in the United States in making their communities safer, more prepared, and more resilient when incidents occur. Community-based preparedness planning allows us to prepare for and respond to anticipated disruptions and potential hazards following a disaster. Studies of behavior following disasters have shown that groups working together in the disaster period perform more effectively if there has been prior planning and training for disaster response. The CERT Basic Training provides individuals who complete this course with the basic skills required to help themselves and help others in the event of a catastrophic disaster since emergency services personnel cannot help everyone immediately. By working together, the CERT Basic training will prepare lay responders to be able to help save lives and protect property using the basic techniques in this course. With training and practice, and by working as a team, you will be able to protect yourself and maximize your capability to help the greatest number of people after a disaster. The target audience for this course is individuals who desire the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and respond to a disaster.CERT Basic Training Program ModulesUnit 1: Disaster Preparedness Unit 2: CERT Organization Unit 3: Disaster Medical Operations Part 1 Unit 4: Disaster Medical Operations Part 2 Unit 5: Disaster Psychology Unit 6: Fire Safety and Utility Controls Unit 7: Light Search and Rescue Operations Unit 8: Terrorism, Hazmat & CBRNE Unit 9: Disaster Simulation & EvaluationOverall Course ObjectivesUpon completing this course, the participants should be able to: 1.
